White kaolin which is high in silica and alumina is widely used in the manufacturing of paint. It is considered a more cost-effective alternative to titanium dioxide. Kaolin is essential to improve brightness of colours, opacity, gloss, viscosity, control texture for disbursement and coatability in paint. Calcined kaolin is particularly useful in creating crack resistant paint with high gloss and opacity.
The benefit of using Asteroid Hydrous Kaolin in paint are as follow,

- Usage: As an functional extender in water base paint formulations and solvent base primer

- Critical quality requirements: Shade, Grit, FP/WD, PSD
- Types of paint where used: Distemper, Economic Emulsion paint, Premium Emulsion paint, Waterbased Cement primer Solvent based primer.
Calcined Kaolin : Asterfil, Astertex, Astercot, Asterfine
- Usage: As an opacifying extender for partial replacement of Titanium dioxide( 20 to 25 % ) in water base paint formulations
- Function: Opacity, Whiteness, Film strength.
- Distemper, High PVC Water based paint, Medium PVC Water based Interior and Exterior Emulsion paint
